Sergei Blumin:  Why I Paint What I Paint?

My ideas come from things that I see around me, but it’s a kind of internal compulsion that brings me to paint something.  There is really no way to explain it with words, but it’s when painting ‘that something’ becomes a necessity for me to paint ‘that something’.

Each painting preserves the artist’s spiritual energy and emotions. Mostly I am attracted to primary, basic human emotions, like love and joy, but not to destructive ones, like anger or hatred.  I strive for harmony in composing my paintings, harmony even in dissonance.  Painting is a process of organizing chaos—the chaos of reality and the chaos of pigments on canvas.

Any painting comes to life, when somebody looks at that painting and perceives its emotional charge.  Than the painting evokes an emotional response and becomes a medium that creates an alliance between the artist, the painting, and the viewer; the alliance wich gives a hypothetical refuge to metaphysical lovers in a fantastic landscape. I believe that art, religion and philosophy represent a Trinity, which defines and creates the spiritual reality of life.
